The Goderich and Clinton Kinsmen and Kinette Clubs are gearing up for their annual cable television auction set to go March 5-6.
The event, a major fundraiser for the local service clubs, is popular in the two communities as hundreds of donated items are put up for auction during a fun-filled format over two days.
Broadcasting live from the Kinsmen Studio, the TV Auction has made great strides in its 19-year history, generating hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue that the clubs put right back into their respective communities.
While the business community and individuals have helped stock the auction with valuable items and services, the event also requires the services of a host of volunteers to provide on-air commentary and man the phone lines that will be, hopefully, jammed with calls from bidders.
Anyone that can volunteer is asked to contact a member of the Kinsmen or Kinette Club. This year's auction chairman is Marlowe Austin.
The bidding will begin Friday, Mar. 5 at 6:30 p.m. with the first 20 lots of items offered. More than 40 lots of items will be auctioned the next day.
Sports and entertainment packages are always popular and trigger a robust bidding process and through the auction the clubs also support the Kinsmen national charity, Cystic Fibrosis.
The 19th edition of the auction holds promise of being a successful venture.
Watch for complete details in next week's Signal-Star which will feature the TV Auction special supplement, itemizing all the items available for bids.
