It is hard to believe that summer is almost over ! It has been a very busy summer in Zone G. The Kinsmen Club of Sarnia held their annual Ribfest on Father`s Day Weekend and followed that up with a great visit from the Portraits of Honour , Canada Day Parade and tended bar for 7 nights at Sarnia Bayfest. They also Celebrated a Life Membership for Bob Marks in May. Sarnia was so busy this summer they will be holding installations September 14th. The Kinsmen and Kinette Clubs of Dover held their annual Truck and Tractor Pull June 24th weekend as well as the Annual Mitchell Bay Singing Contest July 27-Aug 1st. The Kinsmen Club of Dover are celebrating their 35th anniversary this year. The Kinsmen Club of Chatham held their annual fair June 8th -12th and other various activities over the summer. Merlin, Wallaceburg and Blenhiem have been busy with various beer tents and community activities over the summer. Blenhiem held their installation July 31st and as I was unable to attend, Zone Secretary Scott Syrie was able to make it on my behalf. Thanks Scott! The Kinette Club of Chatham continue to roll along and pick up speed. They doubled their club size this past year and reported to me at their installation Aug 26th that they may have a few more to add. The twins they sponsored, received their vests and are enjoying being able to do their chest therapy together. The Kinsmen Club of Tilbury are new to Zone G but it did not take them long to fit right in. They helped organize the Tilbury Puddle Jump and Mud Bog August 20-21. This was an event which Rick Mercer attended and will be doing a Mercer Report from this fall. As a side note, President Tim took be back to the pits, where Rick was doing his stuff for the show and I was able to meet him ! Three other clubs from Zone G were involved in this event, Chatham and Dover Kinsmen as well as Dover Kinettes. It was great to see all of the Kin Participation !
Zone G has not had a new members seminar in the past 10 years and there are plans to have one this year. Plans are for this to happen October 19th 7p.m. hosted in Chatham. A free Fall Leadership Convention registration will be awarded by draw to all those in attendance at the new members seminar.
The Kinsmen Club of Chatham will be hosting the Zone G Perc Dawson tournament which will be held September 10th at the Links of Kent Golf Club.
