All About Me!
After thoroughly enjoying being a Kin wife for 10 years, when the opportunity came about to be a charter member of the re-chartered Beaver Valley Kinette Club – I jumped at it. That was 17 years ago, and I have loved every minute of it.
Over the years, I have had held every position at the Club level, including being President twice.
In 2008 I agreed to be on the incoming Deputy Governor’s team, but a turn of events saw me taking over the role. I was honoured that year with the Outstanding Deputy Governor award. I served as Deputy Governor again in 2013 and in 2016 I was thrilled to be asked to be on the District 1 Executive as their Co-ordinator. It was a bittersweet year, with the illness of Governor Bill Harris, but Governor Monika and the rest of the team were amazing to work with.
When I received the phone call from Deputy Governors Francine& Scott, to join their team as Cystic Fibrosis Service Director, to say I was “over the moon” would not be an understatement. This is a position that I think is a life changing one in Kin. I so look forward to my year with our amazing team, and my fellow Service Director Kin Bill Roskar from Stayner.
Outside of Kin, I have been married for over 34 years to Cameron and we are proud parents of our daughter Kinette Lauren (husband Brodie) Atkinson, and our son Kyle who is residing in Scotland with his girlfriend. Our empty nest is full of doggie kisses from CoCo and Chanel. Kin is very important to me, but my happy place is our family cottage in Quebec where I having been enjoying summers for over 58 years (yes I am that old)!
Meeting new Kin and re-connecting with old friends, visiting as many Clubs and helping out where needed, all the while raising money and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis are my goals for 2019/2020 – along with having fun!
Yours in Kin,
Lisa W. Burechails
