ZONE K NEWS
Now that the warm weather is here, we can all put on our shorts, and get out into our communities and spread the KIN spirit.
In Zone K, we have so many things going on. Goderich Kinettes held their first annual “Stop n’ Shop” where they had many vendors come in and sell items so people could come to one place and do lots of shopping for unique items. They also had a hot dog day outside of a local grocery store, where they raised money for CF. They are also really excited about their new service project entitled, “ Operation Student Love”. For this service project, the Goderich Girls have teamed up with the local high schools, and donate items such as clothing, hygiene products, and necessary school items, to the students who may not have enough money to support themselves. These students have little to no parental support, and may not fit into the regular classroom setting, but are still trying to get their education. This is a wonderful project, and I hope it catches on in other clubs and in other zones.
St. Marys Kinettes held their 14th Annual “ Believe” themed Spring Live Auction at the St. Marys Pyramid Centre. It was very busy, and guests got to enjoy live entertainment, beer and wine tasting, gourmet desserts and specialty coffees, and of course, the auction. This was a great night that raised lots of money for the St. Marys community. These busy ladies are now getting ready for their busiest fundraiser, which is the Homecoming dinner and dance on July 3/10.
Hensall Kinettes have organized their own “Great Strides Walk” on May 2/10. The walk will take place from Hensall to Exeter and there is also a Spring Draw. Tickets are 3 for $5.00 or $2.00 each. 1st prize is a Bulova Watch, 2nd prise is Pineridge BBQ wings, and an Illuminated light set from Seasonal’s Garden & Gift Store. The ladies are also going to be bartending a wedding in July.
The Mitchell Kinettes are continually doing the Blood Donor Clinic every month, and plans are now underway for the next annual Beach Party.
The Clinton Kinettes continue with smaller fundraisers but with summer coming, Pluckin’fest is on the forefront of their minds, and they have started to put things in place for that busy weekend.
The Stratford Kinettes are putting together a Hannah Montanna Look Alike Contest on May 29/10 at Knox Church. Entry is $5.00, and there are 3 different age groups for girls to compete in and prizes for all age categories. These ladies are also getting the KIN name out there by putting KIN goodies in each goodie bag for an event called “Braz for the Cause. On July 10/10, the Kinettes will be hosting a Yard sale at the Allman Arena parking lot. They will also sell tables for other community members to sell their items, and they will be having a BBQ that day as well.
Congratulations to our new incoming Deputy Governor Terri Iredale from the St. Marys Kinette Club. Terri will have a busy year this year but I know that we will all show her the support she needs while serving on the District Executive as well as serving as our Deputy Governor.
I have enjoyed my year as Deputy Governor, and I want to thank all of the clubs in Zone K for having Bernie and I out to your clubs and sharing all of your idea’s with us. We have had a lot of laughs with you all, and I wish you continued success in all of your fundraising and membership drives.
