Kinsmen Club of Hamilton

On Monday July 28, 2008, the Kinsmen Club of Hamilton hosted a Putting Kids First Golf Tournament in support of the Kinsmen Club of Canada and Ronald McDonald House Charities. It was a perfect day for over 100 golfers. The greens and fairways at Mystic Golf Club in Ancaster were in amazing shape after all the rain that was had in the six weeks leading up to the tournament. Hamilton & surrounding area media representatives from CHML, Y108, CKOC, and CKLH radio stations were present handing out golf gifts and chances to win trips to those in attendance.

The Hamilton Bulldogs AHL Club (winners of the 2006/07 Memorial Cup) held an "In The Net" shooting contest in support of Ronald McDonald House. Some of the Hamilton Kinsmen club members operated a 50/50 putting contest. Along with the longest drive contest for the men and a separate longest drive for the women, and a closest to the pin contest. Also offered was a $10,000 prize for a hole-in-one.

Each golfer received a Ronald McDonald House "Boodle Bag" which included a first class golf shirt from Karbon Sportswear along with Blast Power Bars and Flamboro Springs bottled water. Each golfer was treated to 18 holes of golf, a golf cart, a steak dinner with all the fixings and one of the well accepted prizes from the prize table. The prizes were all donated by participants and businesses in the Hamilton and surrounding area.

But there was more. All of the participants had the chance to bid on items on the Silent Auction Tables. Items varied from power tools to winter wear, to golf shirts, gift certificates, ladders, etc.

All in all, it was a memorable event. It was a lot of work by the Hamilton Kinsmen club members and their families, but the results were unforgetable.
