Odette was born and raised in a small farming community just east of Bolton, called Toronto Gore. Big yellow busses, wide-open spaces, the smell of fresh air (if the wind was blowing right and no one had just spread the manure), and that wonderful word “snow day” were all part of her childhood. She moved into the big city of Brampton when she was just 19, and to her it was a big city, Toronto was just too mind boggling to even think about. It was in the city that she met her wonderful, sexy, funny, intelligent (yes, it is still me writing, I really do think all those things) husband. He was a city boy and her the country girl. The first visit to Toronto to show her all the great sights was interesting, I think he still has the bruises on his arm from where she wouldn’t let go, but she got revenge...read on.
They were married and moved to the small village of Flesherton. They live on the outskirts, a compromise for them both, it is in the country but on the highway and you can walk to town. In the first three months of living here Odette abandoned Rob to live up here on his own during the week and only came home on weekends. It was January, no car, no buses, no taxi, no pizza delivery, no movies, no nothing really except snow, but she had to keep her job in the city till he could find one in Flesherton. Must have been love because he walked 10km to the next town and found a job. They have been in the same house for 23 years now and have raised two lovely children, Joshua and Kayla, who are both members of the Shelburne Kin family. Both are well versed in Kin and help out at many of the local Kin projects. Kayla is the reigning tug-of-war champ for the past three out of four years at Kin Kamp, and she is also the first Kin youth member in all of Canada. Odette also works for the same generous employer as Rob, as a developmental support worker. A job she finds both rewarding and challenging.
Odette has been a member since 1996, and is a member of the Kinette Club of Shelburne. Over the past 13 years she has held many executive positions in the club including being president 7 times, and is an active participant in all fundraising activities and committees. Odette has been honoured with the Kinette of the Year award, District Quill Award, Outstanding Kinette Deputy Governor and with her Founders Award.
Odette is a rather bubbly person, who loves particpating in all Kin functions. Don't forget to drop by their room at any conventions.
Until then ...
