Past Governor Melissa grew up as a Kin Kid, being the daughter of Preston Kinsmen Life Member Jerry Whetham. She began her own Kin career in 2000, becoming a member of the Kinette Club of Saskatoon. Melissa transferred to the Kinette Club of Preston in 2002, followed by a move to the Kinette Club of Waterloo Grand River in 2010, back to the Preston Kinettes in 2013 and is now a member of the recently merged Kin Club of Cambridge (Preston). Melissa has held almost every club executive position, and completed a term as District 1 Governor. Melissa is currently serving her fourth term as the Zone A Kinette Deputy Governor. Melissa has been honored with the Maple Leaf Award, Founders Award for Achievement and District Kinette of the Year. In 2017, Melissa was honoured to receive a Life Membership from the Kin Club of Cambridge (Preston).
In her spare time, Melissa works as a Group Benefits Underwriter for Sun Life Financial. She is also proud mommy to 10 year-old Kin Kid Paxton.
Some of Melissa’s proudest moments in Kin include: being honoured with a Life Membership, being part of District 3’s Telemiracle 25, performing on stage as a part of the Preston Kin Rock Kin Roll Revival and, of course, serving as Governor for District 1.
Over the next year, Melissa looks forward to working alongside Deputy Governor Chris, helping to plan the future of our Zone and working with the clubs in Zone A as Kinette Deputy Governor for the Building on the Basics Team.
