Cheryl Brydges, ZONE F Kinette Deputy Governor

Cheryl A. Brydges was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario,Canada. Being from a border town you quickly learned to include Ontario, Canada in your introductions. She is child number 4 in a family of 5 siblings. During her childhood her grandparents and one cousin lived with her making 10 people in all. She attended a 4-room elementary school that taught 6 and 7 grades. Her high school held 1,500 students and was two stories. (Oh, for you sports fans- Jay Triano – coach 2x for Canada’s Olympic basketball team was in some of Cheryl’s classes.) She met her husband, Mike in the spring of grade 13. Upon graduation she headed to Peterborough to obtain her Bachelor’s of Science from Trent University, which held 3.000; a comfortable change from high school. Mike headed to Waterloo University. Cheryl has earned her Ontario Teacher’s Certificate and supply taught until she began her family.

After Mike and Cheryl completed their educations they were wed in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. They set up their 1st home in Goderich, Ontario. Here Mike was invited to join the Goderich Kinsmen. After being involved behind the scenes in a few projects Cheryl treated herself to a membership in the Goderich Kinette club for her birthday. Mike grew at work that led to a move to London, Ontario. By now they had two inquisitive boys. Mickey age 4 and Wesley age 2. Cheryl was lost in transfer until a London Kinette gave her a call and Cheryl resumed her Kin membership. Mike has switched to Masons to allow him more time at home with our two boys as they are growing.

Between the two clubs Cheryl has missed out on one executive position: bulletin editor. She has always been an active member over the past 20 years. While in Goderich, Cheryl earned but not applied for her Maple Leaf. In London she has earned: Kinette of The year at club and zone level, Founder’s award, Outstanding President/Master Club award, and was 1st runner up this Spring Convention for the Kinette Quill award.

She has reached the stage of thinking about returning to the work force but her family keeps bring up new doubts. Mickey is graduating grade 12 and is a race car driver in the junior league. Wesley is searching for his 1st real part time job and exploring the limits of grade 9. Mike is traveling more for work. We do gather together around a campfire as we re-live history throughout the summer months. Cheryl looks forward to sharing time with each of you as we learn, grow and have fun.
